Using a Virtual Guitar with the VPick Game

If you already own a Virtual Guitar, you can use it with the game, but you will need to make a few minor changes. You must copy the guitar information from the VMUSIC.INI file for Welcome To West Feedback into the VMUSIC.INI file for the VPick game.

Before you begin, make sure that the Virtual Guitar is connected and working properly with the "Welcome To West Feedback" game. If the virtual guitar doesn’t work with that game, it won’t work with the VPick game either.

1. Open the Vmusic.ini file for the guitar game. It’s in the Windows directory.

If you’re not sure how to do it, follow these instructions:

    For Windows 95:

    a) Click on Start, select Find, then "Files or Folders …"
    b) In the box labeled "Named:", enter: Vmusic.ini
    c) In the box labeled "Look in:", make sure your hard drive is entered.
    d) Click on the "Find now" button. The dialog box will expand and list the VMUSIC.INI files that it finds.

The VMUSIC.INI for the guitar game is in the C:\Windows folder.
The VMUSIC.INI for the VPick game is in the C:\Vmusic\QF2 folder.

    f) Proceed to Step 2.

    For Windows 3.1x

    c) When the "Search " dialog box opens. Enter: Vmusic.ini in the "Search For:" box. Enter: C:\ in the "Start From:" box.
    d) Click on "OK." A new window called "search results" will appear that lists the Vmusic.ini files that it found.

C:\Windows\Vmusic.ini is the one for the guitar game.
C:\Vmusic\QF2\Vmusic.ini is the one for the VPick game.

    e) Point and double-click on C:\Windows\Vmusic.ini to open the guitar game file.

If you’re not sure how, follow these instructions:

    a) On the Menu bar, click on "File", select "Save."
    b) Click on "File" again, and select "Exit."

8. Try the game using the guitar.

You’ll find that the game is a lot more fun with the guitar. But, if for some reason, you would like to play it with the VPick again. Simply change the "InputDevice=Serial" line in C:\Vmusic\QF2 back to "InputDevice=ParallelPick."
