Four different guitar parts

Quest For Fame feature four guitar parts of increasing difficulty per song: basic, rhythm, lead and stunt.
Basic parts provides the chord changes of the song and a simple rhythm part.
The rhythm part provides more complex and varied rhythms.
Lead parts have both advanced rhythmic guitar parts and several leads, usually single note parts instead of chords.
Stunt parts add more difficult lead lines, and the player usually plays lead all the way through the song.

Players will usually have little problem with performing the lower difficulty guitar parts. But to make good progress through the game, a player must adequately and consistently play increasingly difficult parts.

Six of Aerosmith's Greatest Tunes:
  • Eat the Rich
  • Livin' on the Edge
  • Love in an Elevator
  • Walk on Water
  • Shut Up and Dance
  • Dude, Looks Like a Lady

Two modes of Game Play

Quest for Fame has two modes of play, "game" mode and "open access" mode. "Game" mode will take the player through a challenging Rock 'n Roll adventure. "Open access" mode or "party" mode is an added bonus. "Open access" enables the player to visit 9 of the 11 interactive scenes of the game without spending the hours it takes to complete the game. You can go straight to the stadium if you think you are up to it. It is fun for a group or by yourself because you can jump from scene to scene as you wish and still get reactions from the characters that Quest for Fame is famous for.

The VPick game controller

The VPick is a game controller for Virtual Music games that provides you with a realistic feeling of playing electric guitar. The VPick looks like a space age guitar pick which plugs into the parallel port of a PC or the serial port of a Mac. Simply strum the VPick against any object (belt or tennis racquet) and Virtual Music technology translates the signal into wailing guitar sounds.

Features:
  • 2-inch long, ergonomically designed oversized guitar pick; fits comfortably in hand.
  • Inertial switching technology translates movement into guitar sounds.
  • The VPick game controller is bundled with all Virtual Music guitar games for the PC, Mac and Playstation.

The Rhythm EKG (REKG)

Rhythm EKG is a simple map that allows anyone to follow the basic beat of any piece of music. The correct beat is displayed by a series of "spikes" which point upwards. A red line representing time moves across these spikes, signaling the player to strum when the line and spike "line up". In real time, Virtual Music technology translates the signal into the right note if the timing is right or a flat note if the player is off. The REKG allows someone who has never played an instrument to easily understand the essential rhythm patterns. It also gives the player immediate feedback on his/her performance, allowing them to adjust and learn the correct way to play along and advance in the game.

Hints and Lloyd

By clicking on the help button repeatedly anywhere in the game, the player will trigger valuable gameplay tips as he or she progresses. In addition, Lloyd--an ethereal character who is the player's muse and mentor--makes periodic appearances to offer encouragement, advice--and admonishment if warranted!
