VPick doesn't Work - Aria sound card.
For Quest For Fame to work correctly with the ARIA sound card, the ARIA card can NOT be set to use a SoundBlaster IRQ of 7. IRQ7 is used by the printer port. If the sound card is also using it, a conflict exists and the VPick will not work.
You probably haven't had any problems with this until now because Quest For Fame is the first application you've installed that uses your sound card and printer port at the same time.
Here's how to check which SoundBlaster IRQ number your ARIA card is using:
- From a DOS prompt, type SET [Enter]
-
Look for a " SET BLASTER = "statement. It will look something like this:
SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1
The number after the I (in this case 7) indicates the IRQ setting. If you find that your Aria card is set to IRQ7, you must change it to another value for the VPick to work. We suggest that you use IRQ5.
The following is basic information on changing the SoundBlaster IRQ on an ARIA sound card. If you experience problems please call Prometheus Technical Support at (503) 692-9601 for further assistance with changing their sound card IRQ.
- Exit Windows (Windows 3.1x) or Restart the computer in MS-DOS mode (Windows 95).
- From a DOS prompt type CD \ARIA [Enter]
- Type INSTALL [Enter]
- You now will be in the ARIA sound configuration utility. Your two choices will be Setup Windows Drivers and Configure Hardware. Select Configure Hardware.
- On the Configure Hardware screen there will option for SoundBlaster IRQ. Select SoundBlaster IRQ and ensure the IRQ is set to 5.
- Select Save and exit to DOS. Reboot the system and check for VPick operation.
